Renewable energy system grants from $2,500 up to $1 million; energy efficiency improvement grants from $1,500 up to $500,000. Grants have historically covered up to 25-50% of eligible project cost depending on the funding cycle. Loan guarantees up to $25 million are also available.
You must co-fund 50%.

Eligible applicants are agricultural producers with at least 50% of gross income from agriculture (rural location not required) and rural small businesses located in eligible rural areas.

- Confirm the business is in an eligible rural area using the USDA eligibility map
- Obtain an energy audit or technical report for the project
- Apply through the USDA RD Apply portal or the state office
