Two schemes. Product Process Development (PPD) Scheme: maximum grant R2 million, covering 50%-85% of qualifying costs depending on BEE ownership, for small, very small and micro enterprises. Matching Scheme: maximum grant R5 million, covering 50%-75% of qualifying costs based on BEE ownership, available to all enterprises and individuals.

How to apply
- Confirm the development represents a significant advance in technology and that development and subsequent production will take place within South Africa. — link

- Submit the application to spiiapplications@thedtic.gov.za (contact Ramoroa Molose, +27 12 394 5655).
- Assessment; if approved, claim qualifying costs (personnel, materials, capital items, software, testing, patents, subcontracting, QA) against milestones.

- Technical project description showing significant technology advance
- Detailed qualifying cost budget
- Proof that IP will reside in a South African registered company
- B-BBEE certificate
