Must be a Michigan-based business with principal operations in the state, submitting an SBIR/STTR proposal in one of four technology sectors (life sciences, homeland security/defense, advanced automotive/manufacturing/materials, or alternative energy), and must have no more than 'two (2) SBIR/STTR Phase II federal awards'. Maximum two ETF grants per 12-month period. The underlying federal SBIR/STTR award requires SAM.gov registration with a Unique Entity ID and SBA Company Registry registration; the state ETF match itself does not.
How to apply
- Before the federal SBIR/STTR deadline, 'submit an electronic application through the ETF website at www.mietf.org'. — link
- The MI-SBDC reviews the application and provides a support letter 'within five (5) business days'.
- After receiving the federal award, submit documentation and enter an ETF agreement before funds are disbursed.
- Submit annual reports for five years covering commercialisation, jobs, patents and revenue.
