Individual award sizes are negotiated per investment and are not published. IDA operates a €100m annual capital grant programme for supporting investment projects, with grant levels depending on company size and investment impact; RD&I is the largest proportion of IDA's grant funding programme. Grant aid is also available for in-house bespoke training and management mentoring, business asset grants, lean/digitalisation and sustainability. Ireland's 25% R&D tax credit is cited separately by IDA (note: Revenue confirms 30% for accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2024, so IDA's page appears out of date on this point).

IDA Ireland is the foreign direct investment agency: support is aimed at overseas-owned companies investing or expanding in Ireland, not at indigenous startups (which are served by Enterprise Ireland and the Local Enterprise Offices). Decisions are made in strict compliance with EU state aid rules.

- Develop a project proposal with an IDA executive covering capital, employment, RD&I, training or sustainability elements.
- Proposal goes to IDA's independent Board of Directors, which meets monthly to decide on support.
