Who can apply

Open to Canadian-incorporated companies of any size partnering with a Canadian postsecondary institution; the money is paid to the university to fund the intern, not to the company.

How to apply

  1. Find an academic partner (professor and graduate student or postdoc) at a Canadian university.
  2. Co-develop the research proposal with the academic supervisor.
  3. Submit through the Mitacs online system with the company's cash contribution committed.
  4. Peer review; on approval the intern begins and Mitacs matches the funds.
