Each four-month research internship unit costs the partner company CAD 7,500, which Mitacs matches with CAD 7,500 to fund a CAD 15,000 project. Companies typically stack multiple units; there is no fixed ceiling.
You must co-fund 50%.

Who can apply

Open to Canadian-incorporated companies of any size partnering with a Canadian postsecondary institution; the money is paid to the university to fund the intern, not to the company.
How to apply
- Find an academic partner (professor and graduate student or postdoc) at a Canadian university.
- Co-develop the research proposal with the academic supervisor.
- Submit through the Mitacs online system with the company's cash contribution committed.
- Peer review; on approval the intern begins and Mitacs matches the funds.
