No reopening date has been published by the Department of Industry, Science and Resources as at 14 August 2026. The pause was applied without a public announcement and was reported in the trade press in 2025-26. Founders should monitor the business.gov.au programme page and the Department's Industry Growth Program page for any resumption, and in the meantime consider the R&D Tax Incentive, ARENA, MRFF and state-level commercialisation grants as substitutes.
Early-stage commercialisation and growth grants of A$50,000 to A$5 million, matched on a 50:50 basis, plus free specialist advisory services from an Industry Growth Program adviser. Grants targeted at priority areas of the National Reconstruction Fund.
You must co-fund 50%.

Australian incorporated SMEs with an ABN, fewer than 200 employees, operating in one of the National Reconstruction Fund priority areas. Applicants must be able to fund 50% of project costs from other sources.
How to apply
- Check business.gov.au for resumption of applications before investing effort.
- When open, request an Industry Growth Program adviser engagement to assess commercialisation readiness.
- Adviser prepares a recommendation supporting a grant application.
- Submit the grant application through the business.gov.au portal.
- Assessment against merit criteria and, if successful, execution of a grant agreement with milestone payments.
