Non-repayable grant of up to ZAR 5 million per project. The grant covers 50% of qualifying costs for applicants with 0-25% BEE ownership, 65% for 25.1-50% BEE ownership or >50% women/persons-with-disabilities ownership, and 75% for >50% BEE ownership.
You must co-fund 50%.

South African registered enterprises and individuals. Grant share depends on B-BBEE ownership level. IP must be registered in South Africa and the resulting production must occur mainly in South Africa.
How to apply
- Confirm the project is pre-competitive product or process development, not routine engineering.
- Complete the SPII application form with a detailed technical and cost breakdown.
- Submit to the dtic SPII office (enquiries +27 12 394 1576).
- Technical evaluation and adjudication committee decision; grant paid against verified milestone claims.
